Jessica is a former cheesemonger, certified French Wine Scholar, and blueberry girl forever. Having grown up on a farm, she’s obsessed with the idea of “terroir” – the way a place can be tasted in every bite and sip. She founded Taste of Toulouse in 2018 to help others fall in love with her adopted hometown through its food, wine, and the passionate people behind it. Read more about her journey here.
When she’s not on tour, you’ll find her trying new restaurants around the city or at home with her cats, Cheddar and Camembert. With Jessica, every tour is rooted in curiosity, connection, and a deep love of sharing what makes Toulouse special.

Ally trained at the UK’s renowned Leith’s School of Food and Wine and has worked as both a pastry chef and chef de cuisine. She brings a sharp culinary eye to the tour – along with a sly sense of humor and a knack for putting everyone instantly at ease.
When she’s not guiding, Ally is a food writer, photographer, and cookbook editor. Whether she’s sharing kitchen insights or behind-the-scenes stories, she has a way of making every stop feel both delicious and deeply memorable.
This tour is a great fit for curious food lovers who enjoy understanding what they’re tasting – without needing any prior knowledge (or a sweet tooth that knows no limits).
If you like the idea of slowing down, enjoying something sweet, and exploring Toulouse at a relaxed pace, you’ll feel very at home here. It’s especially well suited for travelers looking for a lighter, more indulgent experience that still offers insight and a sense of place.
You absolutely can explore Toulouse’s pastry and chocolate shops on your own – and we encourage you to do so.
What this tour offers is a more curated and complete experience. Each stop has been carefully selected (a process that involves a fair amount of tasting…) to highlight quality, variety, and specialties you might not come across otherwise – including regional pastries that are unique to Toulouse.
Along the way, your guide helps you understand what you’re tasting – what to look for, how flavors and textures come together, and what sets truly great chocolate and pastry apart. It’s the kind of insight that’s difficult to pick up on your own, but changes how you experience everything afterward – not just on this tour, but for the rest of your time in France.
Rather than trying to piece it all together yourself, you can relax, enjoy, and get a deeper understanding of Toulouse’s sweet culture in just a few hours.
Food comes first. We share cultural and historical context when it helps you better understand what you’re tasting, but this isn’t a lecture-style experience.
As you move through the city, your guide will point out notable sights along the way and share stories about Toulouse – from historical anecdotes to how Toulousains experience the city today – adding a deeper sense of place alongside the food.
Absolutely. You don’t need any prior knowledge – just a bit of curiosity and an openness to trying new things (and maybe something you wouldn’t normally order).
Our guides meet you where you are, whether you’re simply excited to taste great pastries or interested in understanding them more deeply. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and never intimidating.
Yes. Many solo travelers join this tour, and the small group size makes it easy to connect naturally with others in the group. Shared tastings and conversation help create a relaxed, social atmosphere.
You’re very welcome to book as a solo traveler, even if the minimum number of guests hasn’t been met yet. The Chocolate & Pastry tour requires a minimum of two guests to run, and if that hasn’t been reached, we’ll keep an eye on your booking and let you know in advance.
If needed, you’ll have a few options:
If you’re unsure which option makes the most sense, feel free to reach out – we’re always happy to help.
We love welcoming families on this tour, and it’s often the experience we recommend most for those traveling with children.
The combination of walking, standing, and occasional seated moments helps keep the experience varied and engaging, and the focus on chocolate and pastry makes it especially enjoyable for kids who are curious and open to trying new things.
That said, the tour is designed with adults in mind. The pace and content tend to work best for children who are comfortable staying engaged for the duration of the tour.
We offer a reduced price for children aged 5–12, and non-eating children under 5 are welcome to join for free. If you’re traveling with younger children, feel free to get in touch – we’re always happy to help you decide if this experience will be a good fit for your family.
You’ll taste a variety of sweet items, but the experience is thoughtfully paced to keep it enjoyable rather than overwhelming. We keep portion sizes manageable, and many tastings are shared so you can experience a range of flavors without it ever feeling like too much.
We also focus on quality over quantity. French chocolate and pastry tend to be less sweet than what many visitors are used to, with more emphasis on balance, texture, and flavor.
Most guests find the experience satisfying without feeling overly full or “sugared out.” We recommend having a light lunch beforehand – and maybe skipping dessert that day.
This tour is designed as a generous afternoon tasting experience rather than a full meal. While most guests feel satisfied by the end, many find themselves opting for a later, lighter dinner.
Because the tour starts at 2:00 pm, we recommend having a light lunch beforehand (and saving room for what’s to come – you’ll be glad you did).
We walk approximately 2 km (just over 1 mile) through Toulouse’s city center at a relaxed pace, with plenty of stops along the way to taste and enjoy what you’re experiencing.
Most of the experience involves a combination of walking and standing, as not all locations have seating available. That said, we build in natural pauses throughout the tour, and there may be opportunities to sit depending on the stops.
Overall, it’s designed to feel like a gentle, enjoyable stroll rather than a strenuous walk – comfortable shoes will help you enjoy the experience fully.
Some stops on this tour have limited accessibility, often due to the nature of the historic buildings and small artisan shops we visit, and much of the experience involves walking and standing on Toulouse’s cobblestone streets.
That said, accessibility needs can vary from person to person, so we encourage you to get in touch before booking. We’re happy to talk through the route, pace, and setup in more detail to help you decide whether this experience will be comfortable and enjoyable for you.
We highly recommend wearing comfortable shoes, as we’ll be walking through Toulouse’s cobblestone streets. We also suggest dressing for the weather, as the tour runs rain or shine.
You may wish to bring a reusable water bottle, as we don’t provide bottled water as part of our commitment to reducing waste.
Most locations accept credit cards, but having a small amount of cash can be useful for small purchases or if you’d like to tip your guide – though it’s never expected.
This tour is naturally vegetarian and non-alcoholic. With advance notice, we can usually accommodate gluten-free diets, as well as some allergies and other dietary needs.
For guests with celiac disease or serious nut allergies, we recommend getting in touch before booking. While we do our best to make accommodations, we can’t guarantee the absence of cross-contamination at all stops.
You’ll also have the opportunity to note any dietary restrictions during the booking process so we can prepare and make the experience as enjoyable as possible for you.
This tour works well at any point in your stay, especially as a relaxed afternoon experience between sightseeing and dinner.
Many guests enjoy taking it earlier in their trip, as it’s a great way to discover places you may want to revisit later – whether that’s returning for a favorite pastry or knowing where to go when a chocolate craving strikes.
We keep our groups intentionally small, with a maximum of 8 guests. This creates a relaxed, conversational atmosphere where you won’t feel lost in a group and there’s time for questions and shared moments, with space to enjoy each stop at a comfortable pace. Tours run with a minimum of two guests.
Yes – private tours are available and are a great option for larger groups, families, or anyone who’d like a more relaxed, customized experience.
Private tours can accommodate groups larger than 8 and can often be adapted to your interests and schedule.
Booking a private tour can also be a good option if the small-group tour is full on your preferred date. Just get in touch and we’ll be happy to talk through the options.
You’ll receive an automatic confirmation email immediately after booking with all the practical details, including the meeting point, what to bring, and how to prepare for the tour. If you don’t see the email, be sure to check your spam folder – and if it’s still missing, just get in touch and we’ll resend it.
After the experience, you’ll also receive a personalized recap with everything you tasted, along with recommendations to help you continue exploring Toulouse’s food scene on your own.
We understand that travel plans can shift. You can cancel or reschedule your booking up to 24 hours before the tour start time for a full refund.
If something unexpected comes up, just get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.
Because we keep our groups small, tours can fill up quickly. We recommend booking early to secure your preferred date.
If a tour is already full, you can join the waiting list directly through the booking widget – if a spot opens up, you’ll be notified automatically.
If your dates are fixed or you’re traveling with a group, a private tour may also be an option. Just get in touch and we’ll be happy to explore what’s possible.
